Gluten Free Sunshine Sourdough
The addition of lupin flour and turmeric, lend a beautiful sunshine hue to this earthy, creamy and hard to resist bread.
Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead.

The perfect balance of creamy lupin flour and earthy turmeric, this GF Sunshine Sourdough bread will surely become a staple in your baking rhythm. I was not certain if my kids would life this bread, but they love the bright color and have gobbled it up in a matter of days. I highly recommend adding pepper to the recipe, but it is entirely optional. Pepper compliments turmeric’s earthy flavor. It makes the perfect bread to eat with eggs, hummus, avocado toast or just plain with butter!
Lupin flour comes from lupini (or lupin) beans. Lupin flour adds a decent amount of protein and fiber to this bread and is also absorbs moisture beautifully. It is also touted as a low carb flour, however, this sourdough recipe is not low carb. The 50 grams of lupin flour in this recipe do add approximately an additional 20 grams of protein and 17 grams of fiber. A pretty great nutritional addition, that also lends great flavor and texture to this bread.
